about flick merauld

I’m a writer, photographer, artist  living in Oxford, England. I draw source material from many different aspects of life, not just the beautiful or comfortable ones. I love people.

Initially I trained in graphic design, specialising in photography, and this led me to return to art school in the late 90s to do an HNC in Photography and Digital Imaging. From which you would be forgiven for expecting me to have found work in this field; instead  I went on to have five books on paganism published under the name of Elen Hawke.

I have now come back to my first love, which is writing fiction (something I began in my early teens). I spent some months after completing my novel The Aunt Sally Team trying to find an agent or publisher to take on the book. I had several positive refusal, two requests for the full manuscript and then an agent who was interested in my book subject to some revision. Meanwhile I’ve discovered Amazon KDP (Kindle Direct Publishing) and have published my novel The Aunt Sally Team by Flick Merauld: http://amzn.to/MgZRmW  &  http://amzn.to/LJvFhf

The book has been selling pretty well recently, peaking at # 53 in the Amazon Kindle top 100 bestsellers charts and remaining in the top ten in its category.

I’ve also published another novel The Sacred Marriage using my pen name Elen Hawke: http://amzn.to/LhdwVm  &  http://amzn.to/Lr8JoY

  1. I hope you enjoyed my book 🙂 I stumbled on your blog bc you tweeted about getting it. x Bridgett Trejo “Lethal Devotion”

  2. Reached your blog by the strangest serendipity! I was trawling the internet in search of your book “In the Circle” and somehow got redirected to this blog; and so glad of it! I have read your book “The Sacred Marriage” and enjoyed the wonderful scenic descriptions there. (It is available in Amazon India.)

Could you please consider publishing your Wicca books too on Kindle? If possible?

    Thank you! 🙂

    • Hi Sylvia, thank you so much for the comments about The Sacred Marriage. I want to publish my Wiccan books to Kindle. however, Llewellny, who first published them, still own publishing rights for most of them. In The Circle is out of print and rights have reverted to me but, alas, I don’t have digital copy of it. I really must ask Llewellyn if they have a copy still as I’m such a slow typist it would take me forever to type the whole thing out from hard copy onto the computer, and i can’t really afford to get it scanned and converted.

  3. Dear Ma’m, Thank you so much for replying!
I am ignorant of the publishing world, but logic dictates that either Llewellyn should keep the books (which they do own the rights) in either print/ ebook or otherwise should revert the rights to the author, to do as she pleases. Please do ask them about their digital copy.
It is so sad that “In the Circle” is not in print today; it is a book which is very highly written about by many Wiccan sources. (A similar one is “13 Moons”- Fiona Walker-Craven. Totally unavailable.)
Let me see if I can try to obtain a copy; Amazon India does show a listing; but how reliable the supplier is, not sure. If I do succeed, will get back to you to see if we can do something. I am not bad in typing- may take some time, but still…..

    Namaste! 🙂

    • Sylvia, I wouldn’t dream of you going to all that trouble – though it’s very, very kind of you to suggest it. I’m going to see if Llewellyn have a digital file still. I’ve been thinking for some time about putting In The Circle out on Kindle, and you’ve given me the motivation to get on with it, for which many, many thanks 🙂

    Hi Flick,
I saw that you reviewed a book called ‘Dead Centre’ on Amazon. I have a novel with the same title but not same story.
Would like to review it for a free copy?
    All the best,
    Owen

  5. I didn’t reply. I’m in the middle of a family crisis at present, so can |i get back to you? 🙂
